Know Your Rights
As we move through a challenging time in Louisiana, we find ourselves at a crossroads where our tenacity and unity are more important than ever. As of August 1st, several anti-LGBTQ+ laws have gone into effect, casting a shadow on many aspects of our daily lives. These laws place new restrictions on trans+ individuals' access to restrooms and facilities in public spaces, including schools, government offices, and domestic violence shelters. They also limit discussions and instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity for students and educators and allows individuals to disrespect affirming names and pronouns in public schools.
Despite these setbacks, our community's spirit remains unbroken. We are committed to standing together and navigating these challenges with courage and determination. To support each of you, we partnered with Louisiana Trans Advocates to bring you a "Know Your Rights" session available on the FFE YouTube channel. This resource is designed to help you understand these laws and how they might impact you or someone you love. Together, we will continue to advocate for equality, celebrate our victories, and hold onto hope as we push forward for a brighter, more inclusive future.
