Equality Club

The Equality Club Supports the Educational and Advocacy Work of the Foundation by:

Targeted Giving to Fund our Administrative Expenses:
The Equality Club was founded by Jack Sullivan and Eric Hess as a means to provide sustained funding to cover our administrative cost.  Your donations allow us to pay our Managing Director and pay for the administrative cost of running our office in New Orleans and supporting our field directors in South and North Louisiana.

Targeted Giving to promote the Passage of Nondiscriminating Resolutions Throughout the State:
For several years now we have strengthened our efforts to have a stronger presence in Louisiana.  Our main focus is to advocate for the passage of nondiscriminating resolutions in cities around the state. To that end we have  hired part time staff in North Louisiana and South Louisiana. Our field directors in North and South Louisiana conduct non-lobbying activities to educate the public and policy makers on the need to enact laws that extend protections to LGBT persons. This has been done in part thanks to a grant from the State Equality Fund. The Fund is an outcome-based philanthropic partnership that includes the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, the Gill Foundation, the Tides Foundation  and anonymous donors.  Grants are highly competitive and it is an honor for the Forum to be able to compete, and obtain, funding from national foundations. Our grant from the State Equality Fund requires matching, dollar for dollar, from donations here in Louisiana. This year we need to raise $35,000 in order to keep our grant funding.  By becoming a member of the Equality Club you will help the Foundation achieve this goal. Become familiar with the work of our field directors in South and North Louisiana here.

Targeted Giving to Sponsor a Specific Advocacy Project:
Our donations are also project driven. We receive small grants from foundations and corporations to fund specific projects such as our Acclaim Awards Gala, our Health and Wellness Project, and our Outreach and Interfaith Initiative among others. We invite you to become the sole or joint sponsor of a specific project. Become familiar with the Forum For Equality Foundation’s advocacy projects here.

Equality Club Membership Levels
Bronze: $650-$1,199; Silver: $1,200-1,799; Gold: $1,800-$2,499; Platinum: $2,500-$4,999; Equality Founder: $5,000 and up.

Benefits to members of the Equality Club:
Members of the Club receive complimentary ticket(s) to our annual gala, and invitations to attend educational events and debriefings with elected officials, policy makers and leaders. This would allow you to participate in the education of our leaders regarding the rights of LGBT persons. See photos from our Legislative Update on Feb 16, 2011 here.

We invite you to join the Foundation’s Equality Club and put your name along the names of those who don’t wait to become actively involved in the fight for stopping injustice and bringing equality. Membership into the Equality Club starts at $650 per year. Contributions to the Equality Club are tax deductible. Become a member of the Equality Club by filling out our secure form here! or by contacting Susan Levingston, Chair of our Development & Special Events Committee or SarahJane Brady, our Managing Director (see their contact information below)
